I haven't much got one. I take pictures. I try to get the final print to match what I see in my mind's eye when I make the exposure. Is this always what I do? No. Sometimes I get a file into the computer, and discover something I hadn't seen when I shot it. It might look better in black-and-white, or with a closer crop, or with color and contrast heavily pushed. Does this mean I 'photoshop' my images? If you want to think so, go right ahead; I think I'm editing them so they look right. That's all. I get in ruts now and then. Sometimes ruts are good--they hold you on the road. Sometimes ruts are bad--they hold you on the road.
I suppose equipment matters; after all, I always get asked about it. "Your camera takes great pictures." No, it doesn't. It just sits there on the table and refuses to move unless I pick it up. I was a gearhead when I was young. I owned all kinds of cameras and lenses and gadgets, and you know what? My pictures sucked. Now I concentrate on seeing, and my pictures still suck, but they suck a lot less. The ones on this site hardly suck at all, and I'm actually proud of them. I use Nikon DSLR cameras, with a few mid-price lenses and a good, solid Manfrotto tripod with a nice ballhead. I just got a Panasonic G1, and it's a good camera and weighs almost nothing. Most of the other cameras on the market are good too, and any real dogs get weeded out quickly in this age of instant information.
If you like anything you see on this site, don't fret--it's all for sale. I make prints up to 13x19 inches 'in house' (literally) and have an excellent lab to make really big ones. I do basic, competent framing and matting, and can get anything framed professionally if it's beyond my skill. I don't have a price list on the site yet, because there are so many possible variations of print size, frame dimensions and materials and other considerations. See the contact page to send me an email, or visit me on Facebook and we'll talk. I love to talk.
